Meeting Serbian women: Everything you need to know
When I had my first date with a woman from Serbia, all I knew about it was Slivovica, 1999, and Montenegro (it was a single country at the time). It didn’t turn out very well and reading a guide like this would make my first experience with them much better and more pleasant.
Like, if someone told me that Serbians had such a high English proficiency index, I wouldn’t waste time trying to learn their language with all those awful declensions. The same is true for cities like Zlatibor and Novi Sad—it turns out that meeting single Serbian women in cities with great nightlife is safe and exciting (while my first experience was not that safe).
Serbian female population | 3,400,000 |
Share of dating service users in Serbian | 13.1% |
English proficiency in Serbia | 58% |
Top cities for meeting Serbian girls | Belgrade, Zlatibor, Novi Sad |
Liberal democracy index in Serbia (how liberal/conservative the country is) | 0.24 |
Serbian women: Key facts
- The average bride’s age in Serbia is 31.4 years old and this is actually important even if you’re not looking for a wife here. Why? Because this means that they are not as conservative as some people think and that you can meet lots of single Serbian ladies in their 20s!
- They love online dating. Well, at least they are much more into online dating than their neighbours—the user penetration for dating apps is 13.1% in Serbia and it’s more than 2 times higher than in Croatia, Albania, or Montenegro. So if you are into Balkan girls and you want to date them online, you’ll have the highest chances with Serbians!
- According to some sources, the average number of sexual partners in Serbia is around 10 people. This, on the one hand, may mean that this country is a good option for casual relationship seekers, but on the other hand, I spent 3 months there a few years ago and it felt like it’s Serbian men who contribute to this statistics mostly, not their women.
- Casual dating is becoming more and more popular there, and although Serbians generally have a conservative approach to relationships, the situation is slowly changing. It’s especially true for the younger generation.
Best and worst places to meet Serbian women

Where to meet Serbian ladies? Let’s talk about the best places first.
- Night clubs in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and Zlatibor. Serbian girls in their 20s like partying in clubs, social drinking is a big part of their culture, so visiting top clubs in these three cities is certainly a good idea. Clubs with live DJ acts, pubs, student bars, and kafanas—the choice is wide.
- On the streets. They don’t really do that in Serbia, the concept of approaching a stranger on the street is not that common there, and you’ll have a lot of situations where it won’t go well. But if you’re a good-looking, confident Westerner, you’ll also have a lot of positive responses.
- Parks. In Belgrade, for example, all those parks like Park Vojvode Vuka and Studentski Park are very popular places where hundreds of young people socialize and have fun—if you’re confident and the age gap isn’t that big, the chances you’ll be welcomed in a group of young people are very high. The rest is a matter of technique.
- Serbian dating sites. The best option if you ask me. You don’t need to go there or approach strangers, you don’t need to pay for a flight and for a hotel room, you just sit at home and enjoy dating the hottest Serbian girls.
There are also some places where your chances of meeting single Serbian women will be close to 0. Here they are:
- Small cities. In big cities, they’re used to foreigners and what’s more important, they’re used to foreigners trying to approach their women. In small and depressive cities, they might not be so tolerant. And the fact you’re an American… I wouldn’t risk it, to be honest.
- Zrenjanin. It’s the 4th biggest city by population in the country but you will not like it and I know what I’m talking about. It’s boring, it’s dirty, it has awful nightlife, locals are kinda depressive, and if you drink tap water there, you’re done, just like your vacation. Yes, it’s personal.
Online dating is the best option if you really wanna meet Serbian women, that’s where I stand—it’s cheap, it’s convenient, and it’s working. Serbia is fun to visit, but it’s much more pleasant if you have already planned a few dates with local girls.
Secrets to succeeding with Serbian women
There are three main things I’d like to say here.
- 💕 Don’t worry. You’ve probably read a lot about their unique culture, their dating etiquette, and so on. Forget about it, it doesn’t matter. Today’s Serbian singles are very similar to the girls you’ve met in your city or town, they speak English and they’re Westernized, the concept of casual dating isn’t a taboo for them anymore, and they probably know everything about Elon Musk, Trump, and that latest meme from TikTok. Just be yourself, be the best version of yourself, don’t dress like an American tourist, and you’ll be fine.
- 💕 Remember that failures happen. You’ll probably get rejected a lot of times if you’re going to approach Serbian girls on the streets, but it’s ok. I like running and you know what they say about running? Every day, it gets easier. It’s the same with approaching and dating Serbian women.
- 💕 Be romantic, call her, text her a lot, say compliments, and give her flowers. Serbians are slightly more old-fashioned regarding the dating etiquette, so acting a little old-fashioned won’t hurt. Offering to split the bill on the first date will hurt, on the other hand.
That may sound a bit more complicated than the rest of my relaxed experience of interacting with Serbians, but, well, we have to follow some rules everywhere. And these simple rules will work to your comfort and success.
Things you should never do or say to a Serbian woman
- Don’t tell her to be quiet. Serbians, like most Eastern and Southern Europeans, are pretty loud and emotional, and although nobody likes to be shushed, these women literally hate it.
- Don’t discuss weird things. Talking about blood type (like they do in Korea), about the 1999 bombings, explaining why religion is bad, you know, there are a lot of examples. Discussing school, job, and hobbies works much better.
- If you meet her parents and her father offers you rakija, do not say no to at least one tiny shot (but be careful with it. Like, very, very careful).
